Pastoral Care and Discipline
Good behaviour is the result of a partnership between school and home; we value the help and support of parents in promoting sound manners and good behaviour in school. Children are taught from the outset to respect one another and to listen or ask for help when they need it.
Ground Rules are agreed by each class at the start of the academic year; these are displayed in each classroom. Each class operates reward systems appropriate to the age group, for individuals or the whole class, whereby good behaviour is reinforced. An agreed sequence of sanctions operates when necessary. Each term, Year 6 children are appointed as ‘Buddies’ specially designated ‘mentors’ who help younger children and report any difficulties.
A copy of the School Behaviour Policy is available in School.
School Council
The school has established a School Council with representatives from years 1-6. The council meets termly and expresses both councillors’ views and the views of the other pupils they represent. It provides opportunities for pupils to communicate their feelings to teachers and staff as well as influence decisions which are made at Christopher Rawlins School.
